When you don’t like something about yourself, there are usually two choices: cope or adapt. You can either learn to accept your shortcomings, or otherwise do something to surpass them. This is something everyone is fully aware of when it comes to changing the way their hair looks, reducing their body fat or even change their physical appearance. Strangely though, most people don’t seem to realize they can really go as far as doing mind exercises that will help in improving concentration as well as improving all kinds of mental skills. Truth of the matter is that getting smarter is not much different than losing some weight… in fact for some people, it may be easier!

Even though the human mind is an extremely complex engine, we should remember that all the while it’s essentially a muscle. And like all other muscles in our body, it can be made stronger with the right exercises, or it can be allowed to get numb and weak, from lack of appropriate stimulus. This may come as a surprise to many people, but intelligence is something that can be exercised and drastically improved. Similarly, improving concentration is as simple as doing mental exercises that will nurture your ability to focus on something. I’ve been recently reading a digital guide on brain exercises which has completely redefined the way I think about human intelligence… much for the best. I never even knew there was such a thing as mind exercises, but now I’m using them to great effect.

If you’ve ever felt depressed because you feel your brain doesn’t quite catch up on learning something as fast as you wish, or if you’ve been frustrated because you can’t quite wrap up your mind around a subject matter you’ve been trying to learn… I think there’s hope for you. However, rather than cramming knowledge in your mind and hoping for the best, you need to train your mind to really work like a sponge and absorb knowledge on its own. After doing some simple exercises regularly, you’ll be amazed with how easier it gets to remember things, as well as focus on complex problems or riddles. It feels very much the same as going to the gym twice a week for a couple of months: after a while, those same weights just start feeling lighter and lighter every time!

If you want to learn how you can start improving concentration then this book will show you step by step diiferent techniques that will improve your memory.

Everybody wants to be good at what they you. Better yet, everybody wants and needs to prove to themselves that they are better than everybody else. At least most of us feel that way. Don’t you? We want to be more intelligent, wiser, smarter, a quick thinker, and brainier. But what if you were born with a particular level of IQ? Will you be content? At this day and age, you can already do something about your IQ. There are now means and ways to better yourself, maximize your brain power and increase your intelligence.

1. Brainstorming. When you brainstorm, you think of something and try to come up with as many connections as you can with that something you first thought of. But this time, instead of thinking just one thing at first, you come up with two very different things like salt and grasshopper for instance. Then, you think of as many connections as you can between the two objects. This will extend your imagination and sever the critical ability that hampers the flow of ideas.

2. A bit of relaxing and flexing. This will help enhance your ability to do better at processing mental tasks. For students who are taking exams for instance, flex and relax your muscles at least 30 minutes before the exam. This will boost your concentration and ability in solving puzzles and very difficult problems by 25%.

3. Spell it away. This is more like doing some mind-mapping. If you have a particular goal or concern and it seems very hard to see the solution at the end of the tunnel, spell it out. Try to make a web of ideas making connections and sense of everything. This way, you see the answers to you problems more clearly.

4. Novel activity is good. Whether it€™s getting into a new sport, a new hobby or learning a new language, it helps form new dendrites in your brain cells. They are those stems that aide in memory. Strengthening dendrite connections boost memory power and increase IQ in the process.

5. Let€™s get physical. Doing aerobic exercises is a tool in enhancing your fluid intelligence (learning something new). It aides your frontal lobes in storing and processing information like advanced planning and quick decision making. At least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise a week should do the trick.

6. Visiting dreamland. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep. Being able to rest your brain for a good full eight hours of sleep helps revitalize your brain functioning. Doing this everyday will definitely give your brain power a boost because you allow your brain to repair the damaged cells and tissues, repair the psyche, and improve your overall mental performance the next day. So avoid drinking coffee a few hours before bed time. You may drink milk instead.

7. Walking, just like any other exercise, increases one€™s intake of oxygen. The more oxygen your brain has, the better it can perform. Do this for at least 45 minutes three time a week. You will find that you become more energetic, you can multitask easily and you feel less sluggish and lazy.

8. It is in the early hours of the morning that your brain is at its sharpest level. Â Use this time wisely by getting a lot of things done. Tackle the more important and difficult things and save the easy ones for later.

9. Chunk your meals. Eating every few hours provide your body and your brain needed nutrients without bombarding your system with sugar. When you eat huge amounts at a time, the sugar you consume goes to your stomach and away from your brain where it is needed the most.

10. Have Vitamin B at the ready. This can be found in chicken, oats, tuna, whole wheat and bananas. They help manufacture and repair damaged brain tissues and help in improving your memory too.

To be productive, it’s important to stay mentally focused on the task you’re working on. If your mind keeps drifting away, you won’t get a lot done. But you might find your mind drifting away a lot. Your mind might wander on what you should eat for dinner. Or you might start thinking of your spouse or children. When you’ve realized your mind has wandered off, you notice that several minutes have passed and are wasted.

How do you get around this problem?

For starters, whenever you find your mind drifting away, simply bring your attention back to the task at hand. It’s better not to beat yourself up about it. Understand that it’s normal to have your mind drift away. It happens to everyone.

In fact, in Zen meditation, it’s taught that whenever you notice that your mind has drifted off, simply bring your mind back to focus. And don’t beat yourself up for losing focus.

Now you know what to do when your mind drifts off. But is there a way to minimize the number of times that your mind drifts off?

You won’t be able to eliminate your mind drifting off completely. But you can minimize it. For instance, if your mind keeps wandering off on figuring out what to eat for dinner, have that figured out before you start working on your task. Write down what you will eat on a piece of paper if you like. That way, your mind won’t be bothered on what you should eat for dinner because you’ve already figured it out.

Also, make sure you eliminate distractions that would pull your attention away. Turn off your cell phone, instant messenger, TV, and radio when you’re working.

Successful people often comprise of those who have the ability of improving concentration and focus. After all, learning how to listen and focusing your attention on where it needs to be will allow you to move forward in your endeavors. But exactly how do you do it?

In our times today wherein multitasking is a common thing, it is so easy to lose your focus. We have to juggle many different tasks that focusing your attention on a certain task seem impossible. The end result for lack of concentration and focus? Lesser quality when it comes to your task.

Why Are Focus and Concentration Difficult?

Focus is a very essential skill towards success. After all, there can be several internal and external discussions within your working environment. However, focus is not just essential in the workplace; it also applies to many other aspects of your life, whether at school, at home, and in your personal relationships.

Sometimes, people lose focus and concentration because they are easily distracted by different factors, either internal or external. Hence, in order to address the problem with focus, you must first identify what are these influential factors:

External:

1.Noise from direct environment
2.Unconducive situations for work, among others.

Internal:

1.Negative thoughts
2.Fear of failure
3.Over-thinking a strategy
4.Lack of self confidence

Ways To Improving

Improving your focus and concentration starts with recognizing what is preventing you from turning your attention towards necessary matters. When you focus your attention towards unimportant matters, you are not just wasting the opportunity to work on the task at hand but also losing precious time.

Therefore, it is important that you create that mindset that will enable you to focus and be productive. Here are some you can follow:

1.Learn to push yourself. When you have important or urgent tasks to accomplish, it is important that you learn to create a mindset that enables you to firm up your willpower. When your body or mind initially protests, you need to acquire the second will that will keep you going with your task. This often results when a task overwhelms you that you look for an outlet or “break” from the pressure of the task.

2.Focus is focus. When you have multiple tasks, learn how to identify the most important ones. Then, you can work on those tasks first. Doing your tasks one at a time will help maintain your focus on that one task. Then, you can also expect improved quality.

3.Quit procrastinating. This habit will definitely drag your level of productivity down. Learning how to overcome procrastination will enable you to achieve more in less time.

The Benefits Of Your Improvement

Experts believe that those who know how to effectively keep their concentration and focus where they ought to be are the ones more bound for success. This ensures that you are maximizing your skills and resources. This is indeed more beneficial as compared to wasting them on things that you;’d rather not be doing.

Successful people are the ones who know how to control their current thoughts and maintain their concentration in it. Hence, improving concentration and focus now will consequently improve your chances for success in the future.
